Protest clouds Muggers Golf Tournament
8 Sep 2014 by Ryan MacDonald
Under a cloud of controversy, Corry Comeau and Dan Grainger were declared the winners of the Muggers Golf Tournament yesterday.
Finishing the round of 18 holes at Pineview Golf Club with the lowest team score of 79, Comeau and Grainger’s celebration was put on hold after an official protest was entered. Tournament officials poured over evidence, eye witness testimony, the Internet and beer before finally dismissing the protest and awarding Comeau and Grainger the trophy.
In a surprise showing, the Belangers earned a strong 2nd place finish – the first time in the history of the tournament they did not finish last.
Rounding out the field, the teams of MacDonald/Malek and Corvo/Waggott (following a late 1 stroke penalty) tied for the honour of wearing pink tape at the Muggers opening 5 games.
Controversies aside, this proved to be the closest Muggers Golf Tournament yet!
